About The Position

The Mental Health Technician is responsible for providing supervision and support to child, adolescent, or adult patients within a treatment or educational setting. This role ensures the maintenance of a safe and secure environment that enhances treatment and/or educational effectiveness. All responsibilities are carried out in alignment with the mission and values of the medical center.

Requirements

  • Degree (Bachelor or Associate) in psychology or mental health or High School Diploma/GED and two (2) years of direct patient care experience in a mental health facility.
  • Strong knowledge of crisis intervention techniques.
  • Well-versed in handling patient care documentation, including charts and medical histories.
  • Proficiency in preparing and maintaining accurate patient records.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to interact professionally with mental health professionals, patients, and family members.
  • Capable of providing compassionate and appropriate care to individuals with mental, emotional, and developmental disabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors and documents patients’ physical, physiological, and behavioral status to assess progress toward established treatment goals.
  • Reports patient observations to supervisors in accordance with prescribed procedures and standards.
  • Provides care that promotes patient safety, comfort, and a supportive environment.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of treatment plans and programs.
  • Attends and contributes to group sessions, training activities, and staff meetings.
  • Engages in ongoing professional development through educational programs, in-service trainings, and workshops.
  • Assists patients with activities of daily living and provides support during behavioral difficulties or crisis situations.
  • Serves on at least one hospital or medical center committee, task force, or project team to enhance patient care or workplace operations.
  • Demonstrates core standards of exceptional customer service in all interactions.
