About The Position

Apollo Behavioral Health Hospital is hiring a Full-Time Mental Health Technician for the 7p–7a S/M/T and M/T/W night rotation in Baton Rouge, LA 70816. This role supports safe, respectful care by assisting with patient monitoring, basic care needs, and therapeutic support under nursing direction.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED
CPR certification; maintain CPI certification
Clear communication; ability to follow written/verbal instructions in a demanding, distraction-prone setting
Empathic, respectful approach with strong personal integrity
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift patients per essential functions

Nice To Haves

1+ year mental health experience

Responsibilities

Documenting observed behaviors/vital signs and notable events
Assisting nurses and the activity director with patient care tasks and therapeutic interventions
Supporting meal coordination and kitchen clean-up
Helping patients with activities of daily living (e.g., bathing, feeding, hygiene/diaper changes)
Maintaining unit and facility cleanliness
Providing schedule flexibility for coverage as needed
Receiving handoff, reviewing priorities with the team, and keeping steady, calm awareness of the unit
Rotating between rounding, timely charting, and responding to patient requests with a warm, professional approach
Resetting common areas, restocking essentials, and confirming the environment remains orderly during breaks in activity
Coordinating closely with nursing when a patient’s status changes
Keeping communication clear and concise throughout the shift
