About The Position

The Mental Health Technician/(Program Specialist I) will work in Cook Children's psychiatric unit to provide direct, compassionate care to young patients, support treatment plans, and help to maintain a safe, therapeutic environment. You'll serve as primary caregiver for patients ages pre-K through adolescent, supporting daily living activities and helping children/adolescents manage challenging behavioral health or psychiatric diagnosis. The Mental Health Tech will also assist in crisis intervention, teaching, group therapy and on-call rotations as needed. Our ideal candidate will have a solid work history; experience working with at-risk children and a behavioral health background. Required certifications (CPI Crisis Intervention, Heartsaver CPR, CSC SCM) are provided through paid training within your first 60 days.

Requirements

High school Diploma or equivalent.
CPI Non-Violent Crisis Intervention - Units 1-7 & 9-10 plus the CPI Children's Control Position from Unit 8 or must be completed within 60 days of start date.
Heartsaver CPR within 60 days of start date.
CSC SCM training must be completed within 60 days of start date.

Nice To Haves

Experience working in behavioral health or psychiatric setting.
Experience working with children 3 - 12 yrs old.
