About The Position

A 64-bed adult psychiatric facility, Lasting Hope Recovery Center is a place of healing. All of the rooms are private. At Lasting Hope Recovery Center, patients find comfort and a team of caring professionals working for them. Often, mental illness and substance abuse occur at the same time. CHI Health Lasting Hope Recovery Center offers an entire range of treatment and prevention services to meet the needs of patients experiencing both challenges. Treatment is built on personal strengths and support systems that treat individuals experiencing these illnesses.

Requirements

• Bachelors in Human Service field upon hire or Graduate of a Psychiatric Assistant and Nurse Aide training program
• Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire

Nice To Haves

• Will consider current nursing students or students studying a Human Services field
• One year experience in the Behavioral Health field
• 2 or more years of experience working with behavioral clients

Responsibilities

• Provide basic medication triage, support services, and take vital signs for behavioral health patients.
• Manage front office reception, patient registration, insurance/copay processing, and telephones.
• Handle back office tasks like refill requests, injections, and accurate EHR documentation.
• Assist patients through a trauma informed care atmosphere in the development of individuality and appropriate methods of self-expression through promoting an environment in which the patient can problem-solve and test out new behaviors.
• Assist the patients in acknowledging and accepting responsibility for psychological and behavioral patterns through providing feedback and positive reinforcement, consistently applying program rights and regulations, behavior modification program and communicating in an appropriate manner with the patients.
• Provide appropriate emergency care and maintain a safe environment.
• Maintain a secure environment and act as a resource for emergency situations.
• Perform basic nursing tasks (i.e. but not limited to: vital signs, blood pressure, specimen collection, accu checks, weighing and assisting with ADL).
• Assist the nurse in carrying out orders that are within the scope of practice.
• Provide trauma informed care and supervision to patients needing physical restraints or seclusion.
• Assist the patient in dealing with relationship difficulties, supports and teaches appropriate socializations skills.
• Facilitate various supportive, classroom educational (where appropriate) and psych-educational activities.
• Communicate effectively utilizing both verbal and writing methods within a diverse and multicultural environment.
• Maintain appropriate communication networks and harmonious working relationships with members of the interdisciplinary team and other departments, through participating in staff meetings, quality assurance activities, safety, security and infection control programs, program development and implementation and all additional training assigned by leadership.
