Mental Health Technician - 8 Hour Shifts
About The Position
Mental Health Technician Opportunity: Full-Time and Part Time, Approximately 32-40 hours per week, Every other weekend required. 3pm-11pm (limited full time dayshift available) Must attend a two week paid hospital orientation from 8:30am-5:00pm M-F $2,000-$2,500 Sign-On Bonus As the only free-standing psychiatric hospital in the Central Kentucky area, we are here to help. Please join our team as we expand our services to meet the needs of our community. The Ridge Behavioral Health System is a 110-bed hospital located in the heart of the Bluegrass, Lexington, KY. The Ridge provides psychiatric and substance use disorder treatment for children, adolescents, and adults. The Ridge offers Partial Hospitalization, Intensive Outpatient Programs, Individual Counseling, as well as Medication Management for all ages. We have provided behavioral health services to over 92 Kentucky counties for more than 39 years. Mental Health Technicians provide routine non-acute physical care for the patient as well as educational groups based on needs identified in the Master Treatment Plan. Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Must demonstrate basic knowledge of emotional and mental health and disease concepts including the disease of addiction.
- Must have clear communication / interaction skills and demonstrate competency in facilitating psycho-education groups.
Nice To Haves
- Some college course work preferred.
- Experience may be accepted in lieu of college course work.
Responsibilities
- Facilitates group activities tailored to the appropriate topic, age, and level of understanding as approved by the Program Coordinator.
- Ensures patients are consistently monitored in the proper location for the duration of activities.
- Provides appropriate crisis intervention as necessary by anticipating and responding quickly to escalating behaviors, utilizing de-escalation techniques to diffuse the situation, correctly prioritizing safety concerns.
