Mental Health Technician - Per Diem PRN Shifts
About The Position
Mental Health Technician Opportunity: Per Diem PRN Shifts available for 7am - 3pm, 3pm - 11pm, and 11pm - 7am. A two-week paid hospital orientation from 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, Monday-Friday, is mandatory. The Ridge Behavioral Health System, the only free-standing psychiatric hospital in Central Kentucky, is expanding its services to meet community needs. Located in Lexington, KY, this 110-bed hospital provides psychiatric and substance use disorder treatment for children, adolescents, and adults. Services include Partial Hospitalization, Intensive Outpatient Programs, Individual Counseling, and Medication Management for all ages. The Ridge has served 92 Kentucky counties for over 39 years. Mental Health Technicians provide routine non-acute physical care and educational groups based on the Master Treatment Plan.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Must demonstrate basic knowledge of emotional and mental health and disease concepts including the disease of addiction.
- Must have clear communication / interaction skills and demonstrate competency in facilitating psycho-education groups.
- Must attend a two week paid hospital orientation from 8:00am-4:30pm M-F
Nice To Haves
- Some college course work preferred.
- Experience may be accepted in lieu of college course work.
Responsibilities
- Facilitates group activities tailored to the appropriate topic, age, and level of understanding as approved by the Program Coordinator.
- Ensures patients are consistently monitored in the proper location for the duration of activities.
- Provides appropriate crisis intervention as necessary by anticipating and responding quickly to escalating behaviors, utilizing de-escalation techniques to diffuse the situation, correctly prioritizing safety concerns.
