About The Position

This full-time opportunity at Valle Vista offers 40 hours per week, full benefits, and a 3:00 pm to 11:30 pm schedule providing care on our adolescent unit. There is an opportunity for overtime and to cover various shifts if interested. Licensed by the State of Indiana and fully accredited by the Joint Commission, Valle Vista, is a 132-bed mental health hospital and provides comprehensive treatment for a broad range of psychiatric disorders in a safe and comfortable setting. Our goal is to help people learn the skills and regain the confidence to function successfully at home, work, school, and in their communities. Position Summary: Mental Health Technicians provide direct care and supervision for residents, assure residents are kept safe, learn and practice appropriate hygiene and self-help skills, and are aware of rules and expectations. Act as a role model for residents, demonstrating effective problem solving and decision-making skills. Assist in providing recreational and therapeutic activities for the residents, transporting residents to and from medical appointments, and assuring scheduled programming is carried out. Perform duties as assigned in accordance with the ANA Standards of Practice for Psychiatric Mental Health Care, and facility mission, values, policies, and behavioral standards. Mental Health Technicians report to the Unit Coordinator under the direction of the Chief Nursing Officer.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Must be at least 21 years of age

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology or related field preferred
  • Six months to one year of experience working with a behavioral health in-patient population preferred
