About The Position

United Recovery Project Behavioral Health is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Technician (MHT) to join their Mental Health Residential Treatment Program. This role supports patients with high-acuity mental health disorders, including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and other complex psychiatric conditions, while contributing to a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment. The MHT plays a critical role in monitoring patient safety, assisting with daily activities, facilitating therapeutic milieu structure, and providing direct support. MHTs work closely with clinical and nursing teams to reinforce treatment goals, observe and report patient behaviors, and help maintain a safe and supportive environment, ensuring continuity of care through consistent patient engagement, accurate and timely documentation, and adherence to program protocols.

Requirements

  • Valid and active Driver’s License required
  • Basic computer literacy required
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Must be able to pass a Level 2 Background Screening in accordance with state regulations

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in a mental health or behavioral health setting preferred
  • Experience working with high-acuity or residential populations is a plus
  • KIPU EMR knowledge preferred
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification preferred
  • Some college coursework in a related field preferred

Responsibilities

  • Monitor patient safety at all times, including conducting regular rounds and observing behaviors
  • Facilitate and maintain a structured therapeutic milieu in accordance with program schedule
  • Provide emotional support and appropriate redirection to patients as needed
  • Observe, document, and report changes in patient behavior, mood, or condition to the clinical and nursing team
  • Assist in de-escalation of patients using approved techniques and follow all safety protocols
  • Transport/accompany patients to appointments, hospital, and/or discharge referrals
  • Complete timely and accurate documentation in the EMR in compliance with company and regulatory standards
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment throughout the facility
  • Participate in shift reports, team meetings, and ongoing trainings
  • Ensure compliance with DCF, AHCA, The Joint Commission, and company policies and procedures
