About The Position

United Recovery Project Behavioral Health is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Technician (MHT) to join their Mental Health Residential Treatment Program. This role supports patients with high-acuity mental health disorders, including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and other complex psychiatric conditions, while contributing to a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment. MHTs work closely with clinical and nursing teams to reinforce treatment goals, observe and report patient behaviors, and help maintain a safe and supportive environment, ensuring continuity of care through consistent patient engagement, accurate and timely documentation, and adherence to program protocols.

Requirements

• Valid and active Driver’s License required
• Basic computer literacy required
• High School Diploma or GED required
• Must be able to pass a Level 2 Background Screening in accordance with state regulations

Nice To Haves

• Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in a mental health or behavioral health setting preferred
• Experience working with high-acuity or residential populations is a plus
• KIPU EMR knowledge preferred
• Current CPR and First Aid certification preferred
• Some college coursework in a related field preferred

Responsibilities

• Monitor patient safety at all times, including conducting regular rounds and observing behaviors
• Facilitate and maintain a structured therapeutic milieu in accordance with program schedule
• Provide emotional support and appropriate redirection to patients as needed
• Observe, document, and report changes in patient behavior, mood, or condition to the clinical and nursing team
• Assist in de-escalation of patients using approved techniques and follow all safety protocols
• Transport/accompany patients to appointments, hospital, and/or discharge referrals
• Complete timely and accurate documentation in the EMR in compliance with company and regulatory standards
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment throughout the facility
• Participate in shift reports, team meetings, and ongoing trainings
• Ensure compliance with DCF, AHCA, The Joint Commission, and company policies and procedures
