About The Position

Apollo Behavioral Health Hospital is seeking a part-time Mental Health Technician for alternate weekend nights (Saturday/Sunday, 7 PM - 7 AM) in Baton Rouge, LA. This role supports safe, respectful patient care and unit operations. The shift involves starting with report and safety checks, conducting structured rounding, and timely charting. You will partner closely with nursing and activity staff, escalating changes promptly and maintaining organized documentation. Responsibilities include assisting with meal coordination and patient needs during meals, keeping common areas clean, preparing for patient departures, and providing ADL support. The role is patient-facing, detail-driven, and requires frequent communication to maintain a calm, safe environment. Key responsibilities also include supporting outpatient program tasks, documenting patient observations (behavior, vital signs, significant events), assisting nursing staff with patient care and therapeutic interventions, and maintaining facility cleanliness.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • CPR certification
  • Ability to maintain CPI certification
  • Clear written/verbal communication
  • Ability to follow instructions under close supervision
  • Empathic, professional demeanor with strong personal integrity
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift patients per essential functions

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ year mental health experience preferred
