About The Position
We are seeking a compassionate Mental Health Technician in Intake to join our team. As the first point of contact for many of our patients, you will play a crucial role in facilitating a smooth, welcoming, and safe admission process. This position involves performing initial intake tasks, obtaining vital signs, ensuring patient safety, and assisting with documentation.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Current BCLS/CPR certification (or willing to obtain).
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen.
Nice To Haves
- Minimum one (1) year of experience in a behavioral health setting or residential treatment facility preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal and crisis intervention skills; previous experience with therapeutic limit-setting.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the admission process, including greeting new patients, assisting with paperwork, and orienting them to the facility.
- Obtain and record vital signs, monitor nutritional intake, and document patient behaviors/indicators of mental/behavioral status per policy.
- Conduct safety checks (15-minute rounds), monitor patient behavior, and maintain a safe, therapeutic environment.
- Provide direct, compassionate care to patients with acute mental health conditions (bipolar, schizophrenia, etc.).
- Work closely with the nursing and clinical staff to communicate changes in patient status.
