Mental Health Technician (Evenings)
About The Position
Lake Behavioral Hospital is hiring a full-time Mental Health Technician (MHT) for the evening shift, 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Working under the guidance of a Registered Nurse, the MHT provides continuous care, supervision, and positive role modeling to patients across various age groups. The role supports a therapeutic environment and contributes to patients’ treatment and well-being. The MHT records vital signs, observes and reports changes in patients, follows therapeutic interventions, uses crisis-intervention techniques, and assists with groups and daily care. The position may require overtime and flexible hours. The stated compensation range is $17.00–$23.00 per hour, with an $800 sign-on bonus and evening shift differentials.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, or Certified Nursing Assistant.
- One year of related experience is preferred, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques and an understanding of mental illness.
- May be required to work overtime and flexible hours.
Nice To Haves
- Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, recreational therapy, or an appropriate therapeutic discipline.

Responsibilities
- Accurately record vital signs.
- Exercise judgment in patient interactions and report changes to the Registered Nurse.
- Follow therapeutic interventions outlined by the treatment team and provide information for their development and revision.
- Employ crisis-intervention techniques, conduct MHT-led groups, and use facility-approved CPI techniques.
- Assist patients through discharge, guide them in adjusting to life changes, and help with personal hygiene.
- Comply with policies for a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment, practice universal precautions, and respond to patient care priorities.
