About The Position

We are looking to hire Mental Health Technician III who can provide high quality care to patients who are hospitalized with psychiatric or emotional disorders. Mental Health Technician (MHT) observes and assists assigned mental health patients and helps with daily living activities, therapeutic activities, and socialization. MHTs are responsible for the overall maintenance of a therapeutic environment in a unit and to ensure safety of patients and staff. MHTs attend and participate in group therapy, in-service education, and staff meetings. Carry out general nursing assistance necessary to treatment of adolescent, adult, or older adult patients as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School degree (or equivalent).
  • Must possess or obtain a valid CPR certification within 30 days of hire and prior to completion of orientation.
  • Must be certified in facility approved verbal de-escalation and physical crisis management techniques within 30 days of hire and prior to completion of orientation.
  • 1 year experience as an MHT I required or displayed potential to serve in a senior capacity.
  • Minimum of 2 years clinical experience, preferably in a behavioral healthcare setting.
  • Excellent communication skills and be a good listener with a pleasant demeanor that encourages and engages others.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize with strong time management skills.
  • Must successfully pass background check, drug screen, physical, and be able to provide positive employment references.
  • With or without reasonable accommodations, must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, stand for sustained period of time, walk, pull, lift, raise and move objects from position to position (up to 50 lbs.), finger grasp; feel sizes, shapes, temperatures, and textures; express or exchange ideas orally and potentially loudly, accurately, or quickly; visually detect, determine, perceive, identify, recognize, judge, observe, inspect, assess; perceive the nature of sound with or without correction; perform repetitive motions of the wrist, hands, or fingers.

  • AA in Human Services Field preferred.
  • Prior psychiatric healthcare experience helpful.
