About The Position
The Mental Health Technician II provides direct care and support to patients with emotional, psychiatric, or behavioral conditions under the supervision of licensed clinical staff. The role helps maintain a safe, therapeutic environment and promotes patient engagement in treatment and daily activities. Serving the inpatient mental health unit at the Mathile Center for Mental Health and Wellness, the technician provides supportive, trauma-informed care to patients and families, including age-appropriate care for pediatric patients.
Requirements
- Associate degree in psychology, social work, or a related field.
- At least 1 year of experience in a behavioral health or healthcare setting.
- CPI or other crisis intervention training, if not already completed, must be obtained within 90 days of hire.

- Experience working with patients with mental health or substance use disorders.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe and therapeutic milieu.
- Complete routine safety checks and provide constant attendance as ordered.
- Follow patient-specific treatment plans.
- Provide crisis intervention.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living.
- Document care appropriately.
- Facilitate therapeutic groups and assist with programming.
- Collaborate with the treatment team and support discharge planning.
- Participate in self-appraisal for performance improvement.
