This position provides direct client support while ensuring the safe transportation of clients to and from programming. The Mental Health Technician / Driver plays an essential role in supporting daily program operations by providing transportation, monitoring client safety, assisting the clinical team, and fostering a positive therapeutic environment. This role requires strong communication skills, professionalism, and the ability to build trusting relationships with clients while maintaining a safe and structured treatment setting.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Ability to meet company driving requirements and safely transport clients.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to remain calm, professional, and compassionate in a behavioral healthcare environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Human Services, or a related behavioral health field.
  • Previous experience working in mental health, substance use treatment, or behavioral healthcare.
  • Experience working with adolescents and/or adults in a therapeutic setting.

Responsibilities

  • Safely transport clients to and from programming using company vehicles while adhering to all driving policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and supervise clients throughout the treatment day to promote a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment.
  • Build positive, professional relationships with clients by providing encouragement, support, and appropriate redirection.
  • Reinforce treatment goals and support clients in following individualized treatment plans.
  • Observe client behaviors and communicate significant concerns or changes to the clinical team.
  • Assist clinicians and program staff with daily program operations and group activities.
  • Welcome and orient new clients to program expectations and daily schedules.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and effectively communicate client updates to team members.
  • Respond appropriately during crisis situations by following established safety protocols.
  • Engage with clients during meals, recreational activities, and downtime to promote a positive therapeutic community.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming treatment environment, including stocking supplies and supporting facility needs.
  • Participate in staff meetings, required trainings, and ongoing professional development.
  • Assist with onboarding and mentoring new team members as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
