About The Position
Lincoln Trail Behavioral Health System is a 140-bed hospital offering inpatient services for adolescents, adults, military, veterans and first responders. Lincoln Trail Behavioral Health System has a spacious cafeteria, gymnasium, art/activity room, group rooms, classrooms and other areas to create a pleasant atmosphere for patients and their families. Lincoln Trail Behavioral Health System’s quality services are provided by psychiatrists, licensed therapists, certified alcohol and drug counselors, activity therapists and teachers. Also, care is given by registered nurses 24 hours a day. Since 1986, Lincoln Trail Behavioral Health System has been a proven psychiatric care provider in mental health and substance use. As a Mental Health Technician (MHT), you'll play a vital role in supporting patients throughout their treatment journey. Working alongside licensed clinical staff, you will provide compassionate, hands-on support that addresses the physical, social, and behavioral needs of each patient.
Requirements
- High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
- Experience in direct patient care AND/OR Completion of Nursing Assistant Training/previous psychiatric experience preferred
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear, and taste or smell.
- The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance.
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include the ability to adjust focus.
Responsibilities
- The MHT provides routine non-acute physical, behavioral, and mental care to the patient on the milieu under the direction of licensed staff.
- Completes all required documentation in a clear, concise manner, showing understanding of patient goals and treatment plan.
- Responsive to patient specific factors and adapts to clinical intervention to fit individual patient need/goals.
- Maintains consistency throughout shift functions and through outgoing and oncoming shift report to ensure appropriate treatment is provided to each patient.
- Fosters and actively assists in maintaining unit’s therapeutic milieu.
