This position is for nights 7pm - 7am

Requirements

• High School diploma required.
• Certification in crisis intervention training required.
• Knowledge of crisis prevention techniques and methods.
• Knowledge of psychiatric illness and manifestations.
• Knowledge of patient’s growth and development needs.
• Ability to quickly recognize changes in condition and needs of patients.
• Ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy in carrying out work duties

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Minimal two (2) years' experience with mentally ill patients preferred.

Responsibilities

• Under the direction of the registered professional nurse. Manages the environment and crisis de-escalation incorporating the attributes of Careful Nursing.
• Identifies potential safety hazards
• Conducts searches and contraband removal.
• Initiates individual patient interactions (e.g., one-to ones).
• Coordinate's goal setting with patients and significant others (e.g., families).
• Participates in multidisciplinary patient staffing (care conference) on a weekly basis.
• Applies restraints under the direction of a licensed professional
• Transports patients within the hospital as needed.
• Floats to all units as needed to provide observations for all behavioral health patients. Assure the safety of the patient and the environment
• Provides 1:1 support for high acuity patients
• Provides direct patient care as required.
• Facilitates therapeutic groups.
• Ensures that care is provided for all patients incorporating the attributes of Careful Nursing.

• Carries out other duties related to patient care and unit operations as assigned
