About The Position

Gulfport Behavioral Health System is a 90-bed psychiatric hospital offering child, adolescent, adult and military service behavioral health programs and treatment services. The Mental Health Technician (Part-time M-F 3:30p-7:30p) functions as an active part of the outpatient treatment team, providing continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling to patients seeking treatment through our outpatient programs (adolescents, adults, and substance use disorders.) The MHT works under the direction of a Registered Nurse and the position may include transporting patients or other driving responsibilities; assist with cleaning responsibilities in apartments for patients who are boarding during outpatient treatment. The position is Part-Time Monday-Friday 3:30p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Requirements

High School Degree or equivalent preferred.
One year of related experience, with a knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness, preferred.
Must maintain a valid driver's license in the applicable state.
Successful achievement of pre-employment online assessment.
Successful completion of CPR and Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training. Certifications may be obtain during new hire orientation.
May be required to work overtime and flexible hours.

Nice To Haves

Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, recreational therapy or appropriate therapeutic discipline desirable.
