Outpatient Mental Health Tech - School Based Georgetown
About The Position
This is a part-time position, approximately 24 hours per week, for an Outpatient Mental Health Tech in a school-based setting in Georgetown. The role involves providing routine non-acute physical care for patients and facilitating educational groups based on needs identified in the Master Treatment Plan. The position is with The Ridge Behavioral Health System, a psychiatric hospital serving children, adolescents, and adults with psychiatric and substance use disorder treatment needs. They offer various programs including Partial Hospitalization, Intensive Outpatient Programs, Individual Counseling, and Medication Management. The Ridge has been providing behavioral health services for over 39 years and is the only free-standing psychiatric hospital in the Central Kentucky area.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED required
- Must demonstrate basic knowledge of emotional and mental health and disease concepts including the disease of addiction.
- Must have clear communication / interaction skills and demonstrate competency in facilitating psycho-education groups.
Nice To Haves
- College degree preferred.
- Experience may be accepted in lieu of college course work.
Responsibilities
- Facilitates group activities tailored to the appropriate topic, age, and level of understanding as approved by the Program Coordinator.
- Ensures patients are consistently monitored in the proper location for the duration of activities.
- Provides appropriate crisis intervention as necessary by anticipating and responding quickly to escalating behaviors, utilizing de-escalation techniques to diffuse the situation, correctly prioritizing safety concerns.
