About The Position

The Psychiatry department at Barnes-Jewish Hospital is seeking a Mental Health Tech to provide care and safety for patients in a supportive team environment. This role is responsible for performing necessary services in caring for the personal needs, comfort, and treatment of psychiatric patients under the direction of a registered nurse. The department consists of three inpatient Psychiatric units and an Outpatient ECT, focusing on a safe, patient-centered approach using various therapies and an interdisciplinary team in state-of-the-art patient care units. The Psychiatric Medicine unit offers a unique opportunity to work in an environment that combines medical and Psychiatry. Intensive Psych allows the team to work with those who are acutely ill. The Geriatric unit is for those with a passion for the elderly population in Psych. The team in Psychiatry is a well-rounded group caring for patients with a wide range of Psychiatric illnesses, with safety being a high priority.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• <2 years of experience
• No Supervisor Experience

Nice To Haves

• CNA, MHT, Nurse Assistant, or PCT experience
• Associate's Degree
• 2-5 years of experience

Responsibilities

• Assists patients with daily hygiene including personal care direction, assists with physical activity, meets patients’ nutritional needs, and documents activities as required.
• Implements direct patient care under the supervision of a nurse.
• Assists nurses with admissions and discharges, and assists nurses and doctors with treatments, procedures and examinations.
• Performs general clerical tasks.
• Collects and records specimens, including phlebotomy.
