About The Position

Palm Point Behavioral Health is a 74-bed behavioral health hospital located in Titusville, Florida. We treat adults, children, and adolescents with a wide range of behavioral health diagnoses, including depression, anxiety, and substance abuse. We are currently looking for a qualified PRN Mental Health Technician (MHT) to join our team of dedicated Behavioral Health professionals working with Adults and Adolescents dealing with psychiatric issues. The Mental Health Tech (MHT) provides direct care support and functions as an active part of the treatment team, providing continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling to adolescent patients. The Mental Health Tech works under the direction of the Registered Nurse.

Requirements

  • High school graduation or equivalent.
  • Some college course work preferred.
  • Prefer one (1) year related experience.
  • Psychiatric Technician experience is preferred.

  • Previous experience in a mental health hospital setting is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential for effective patient interaction.
  • Strong collaborative skills and ability to work effectively with others.
  • Ability to exhibit empathy, respect and compassion that involve understanding and care for patients.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates group activities tailored to the appropriate topic, age, and level of understanding as approved by the Program Coordinator.
  • Ensures patients are consistently monitored in the proper location for the duration of activities.
  • Provides appropriate crisis intervention as necessary by anticipating and responding quickly to escalating behaviors, utilizing de-escalation techniques to diffuse the situation, correctly prioritizing safety concerns.
