About The Position

Lane County Behavioral Health is looking for a skilled Mental Health Clinician to join our Aid and Assist Team serving adults with severe and persistent mental illness and who are engaged in the process to determine fitness to participate in their own defense. This is a position for someone who is interested in systems level engagement along with client care. The ideal candidate is interested in being a part of a multidisciplinary team which includes behavioral health staff who interface frequently with Oregon State Hospital staff, municipal and circuit court staff, and psychiatrists. They will provide screening and assessment primarily in the community and in adult correction facilities for individuals whose fitness to participate in their own defense is in question. This person will utilize evidence-based treatments and supports while being responsible for monitoring the participation of individuals in community based restoration. This position will serve as a liaison between the community, contracted housing organizations, the Oregon State Hospital and the criminal justice system. They will also contribute to community mental health clinic development and continuous improvement efforts. Where as this position requires significant in-person work, telework is available for permanent employees. Requirements

  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in a mental health field, psychology, counseling, social work or a related field.

  • For MHS1 - QMHP Certification or enrolled as Clinical Social Work Associate, Licensed Professional Counselor Associate or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate.
  • For MHS2 - Oregon Health Licensure required: Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Psychologist, or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.
  • Subject to a full criminal offender information record check.
  • Consent to and successfully passing a drug screening test.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of some experience working directly with mentally or emotionally disturbed clients in the provision of behavioral health services is highly desirable (for MHS1).
  • Two years of responsible professional mental health experience, including one year of experience specific to the program or area of assignment (for MHS2).
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training that will demonstrate the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.
