About The Position

At Dungarvin, we are a mission-driven team providing person-centered support services since 1976, helping individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities or other complex medical needs live as independently as possible. We operate in 15 states, united by a commitment to making a difference one person at a time. As a Mental Health Specialist II, you will provide hands-on care, assisting individuals with daily activities such as personal care, meal preparation, transportation, housekeeping, and laundry, while fostering independence. You will also support mental health and behavioral management by utilizing your skills to help individuals overcome challenging behaviors, offering compassionate, person-centered care. A key part of the role is creating and maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment that ensures comfort and support, helping individuals reach their personal goals. Additionally, you will mentor and guide individuals, providing supervision, positive reinforcement, and guidance to help them achieve their aspirations.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience working with individuals who have challenging behaviors, such as physical or verbal aggression, property destruction, or self-injury.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age and 21 years or older for some sites.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Physical stamina to stay on your feet, walk, stand, and lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Basic computer skills for tracking progress and documentation.
  • Good communication skills (reading, writing, and communication) to document care, follow support plans, and collaborate with both internal and external team members.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with mental health conditions (e.g., bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, depression, anxiety) is a plus.

Responsibilities
