Performs basic supportive and trauma-informed care to specified patients and families under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse or clinical supervisor. This role is part of an interdisciplinary team focused on specialized patient care within a child unit. The specialist will establish therapeutic relationships, provide trauma-informed care, utilize positive reinforcement, and maintain safety through de-escalation and limit setting. Collaboration with other healthcare professionals is key to developing treatment plans, and the specialist will act as a resource to unit staff regarding diagnoses, behavior plans, and crisis management.
