About The Position

Bayshore Medical Personnel is seeking a Full-Time Mental Health Registered Nurse for a contract opportunity in Halifax, NS, to provide healthcare services for military personnel. This role involves working with a unique patient population in a primary health care setting. The position offers a day shift schedule, Monday to Friday, with no nights or weekends required.

Requirements

• Registered Nurse (RN).
• Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from a recognized college or university.
• Certificate in Mental Health Nursing or certification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing from the Canadian Nurses Association (CNA).
• Registered Nurse license from the provincial or territorial professional college or association in the province of practice.
• Certificate of Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider or equivalent such as Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation/Automated External Defibrillator (CPR/AED) Level C.
• Three (3) years of experience in Mental Health in the last five (5) years.

Responsibilities

• Provide Mental Health services in a primary health care setting.
• Conduct assessment, nursing diagnosis, and development/implementation of care plans.
• Perform crisis intervention.
• Offer counseling and life skills programming to clients.
• Provide counseling services in individual and/or group therapy sessions using CBT, DVT, or motivational interview techniques.
• Perform bio-psychosocial assessments.
• Conduct medication management from inpatient and outpatient perspectives.
