About The Position

The Mental Health Professional (MHP) is responsible for the clinical oversight of youth enrolled in programming. This role involves approving crisis plans, provider notes, and treatment plans, as well as authorizing services and attesting to their necessity for clients. These services can span various programs and departments, including DHHS, CYFS, Wraparound Milwaukee - Children’s Community Mental Health Service, and BHS.

Requirements

  • Licensed by the state of Wisconsin as LCSW or LPC required.
  • Meets the requirements as defined in DHS 36.10 (2) (g) 1 to 8.
  • Knowledge of WI DHS Chapter 34 and 36 and Milwaukee County community, mental health resources and services, and AODA service provisions.
  • Ability to interpret and implement statutes related to the program.
  • Ability to complete a comprehensive assessment with youth and family and provide an applicable diagnosis for the youth.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to perform record keeping, documentation, and prepare formal reports using proper writing skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to manage multiple complex tasks, strong professional communication and teamwork.
  • Ability to display cultural competence by responding respectfully and effectively to people of all cultures, languages, classes, races, ethnic backgrounds, religions and other diversity factors in a manner that recognizes, affirms and values the worth of individuals, families and communities and protects and preserves the dignity of each.
  • Ability to use vehicles for work-related duties according to the agency’s insurance liability standards.
  • Valid Wisconsin driver’s license and liability insurance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with targeted Recovery Support populations, i.e. CARS, CCS, RSC, TCM, CSP etc. highly preferred.
  • Supervisory or leadership experience highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains a high level of integrity and program quality through quality improvement, accreditation, licensing, and internal monitoring processes.
  • Promotes the use of evidence-based and trauma-informed care principles.
  • Participates as a member of the recovery team by attending team meetings, developing rapport with youth and families and their team members, supporting in assessing and determining the youth and family’s needs, and providing clinical recommendations to identify and address barriers to recovery.
  • Ensures accurate and timely dissemination of information to program staff.
  • Cultivates and maintains relationships with community/contractual partners.
  • Participates in agency-wide and contract required committees, trainings, and meetings.
  • Conducts clinical supervision via group and/or individual staffing with program staff as required by contract.
  • Ensures timely completion of required documentation, including crisis plans, provider notes, treatment plans, and SARJs, and reports any deviations to the Program Manager.
  • Serves as a Clinical Supervisor, providing ongoing clinical supervision and support to staff, offering guidance in navigating challenging situations, and ensuring the seamless continuity of care for clients.
  • May be cross-trained amongst several programs that require MHP support based on agency needs and provides clinical supervision for interns and other agency programs as needed.
  • Represents the program and agency at various community functions.
  • May assist care coordinators with obtaining diagnosis information from current outpatient providers.
  • Assists as needed with conducting intake assessments, developing community treatment plans, and overseeing the intake process, ensuring timely and comprehensive care for all consumers/clients.
  • Available for additional meetings with families/psychoeducation (clinical information on diagnosis, comorbidity, prognosis, treatment).
  • Ensures equitable treatment of staff through consistent application of Agency Human Resource processes.
  • Adheres to St. Charles Youth and Family Services Policy and Procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
