Mental Health Professional I / Adult Clinic Services (Columbia Area)
About The Position
The Mental Health Professional I provides intensive case management to a diverse and challenging population of clients with chronic psychiatric and co-occurring disorders. The goal is to prevent or minimize hospitalization and enhance community placement. The position is located at the South Carolina Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities, Office of Mental Health, Columbia Area Mental Health Center, 2715 Colonial Drive, Suite 200A, Columbia, SC 29203, and works under the supervision of the Program Supervisor. The stated schedule is dayshift, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Hours may occasionally extend beyond the normal schedule when extra effort is needed to complete assignments, including in crisis or emergency situations.
Requirements
- A master's degree in guidance, counseling, the social sciences, or a related field.
- Possess a thorough knowledge of psychopathology, diagnostics, counseling, case management, and recovery.
- Have good interpersonal skills for working with consumers and other agencies.
- Have considerable knowledge of local agencies and facilities.
- Be able to provide services to people with serious, persistent mental illness and those who are dually diagnosed.
- Be able to work with families.
- Be credentialed as a Mental Health Professional.
