About The Position

This position is with the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Beckman Center for Mental Health Services, Greenwood Mental Health Clinic. This position is school based, providing services to Greenwood School District 50, Springfield Elementary School and Dr. Benjamin E. Mays Elementary School. Under general supervision, as the Mental Health Professional I, you will provide culturally competent treatment services to children, adolescents, and their families. Services will include, but not be limited to, assessments, crisis management, individual therapy, group therapy, and family therapy.

Requirements

  • A master’s degree in guidance, counseling, the social sciences or a related field.
  • Must qualify for credentialing and privileging as a mental health professional and in accordance with Quality Assurance standards and with concurrence by OMH Office of Quality Management.
  • To be credentialed for core service provision with BHDD, applicants must provide evidence of clinical experience providing direct patient care. This experience may be documented as a practicum or internship during graduate program, or post-graduate clinical experience.

  • Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.
  • Maintain practical therapeutic knowledge of principles, methods and counseling practices and procedures for the diagnosis and treatment of behavioral and mental disorders.
  • Possess ability to listen and understand and communicate information and ideas so that others will understand.
  • Organize and maintain a caseload.
  • Implement knowledge of psychopathology , family dynamics, family and group psychotherapy.
  • Ability to identify and effectively utilize resources available in the community to accomplish objectives.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals, families and representatives of other professional disciplines.
  • Ability to present clear and comprehensive oral and written reports.
  • Understand position is considered essential and may be called back during crisis/disasters/emergencies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide mental health services in a culturally competent manner which will include but not be limited to assessment, crisis management, individual therapy, group therapy, and family therapy to seriously mentally ill adults and children, adolescents and their families.
  • Formulate plans of care and maintains accurate medical records.
  • Maintain medical records documentation standards in accordance with all Beckman QA, OMH and CARF policies and procedures.
  • Ensure each patient has a LOC established and updated quarterly and is treated at the frequency recommended.
  • Ensure that caseload standards are met.
  • Participate in Center’s emergency/crisis services by providing telephonic and/or face-to-face contact, to include screenings, assessments of persons for possible hospitalization.
  • Participate as an active member of the clinical team.
  • Participate and engage in supervisory meetings, staffings, treatment team meetings, and administrative meetings.
  • Is prepared to staff cases that need clinical attention when meeting with the treatment team and supervisor.
  • Gather and submit outcome data in compliance with all Beckman, QA, OMH and CARF policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to Corporate Compliance, Safety, Fire, CARF, HIPPA, and Cultural Competency policies and procedures.
