About The Position

This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health, Coastal Empire Community Mental Health Center (CEMHC), 507 Forest Cir, Walterboro, SC 29488. As the Mental Health Professional, working under the direct supervision of the Colleton Clinic Director, you will provide recovery-oriented services to a population with severe and persistently mental illness, in the Clinic and in the community. Services will be delivered according to the guidelines established by the SCDBHDD.

Requirements

  • A master’s degree in guidance, counseling, the சமூக sciences.
  • Be able to complete Managing Agitation in the Psychiatric Setting (MAPS) certification
  • Be able to participate in after hours crisis intervention.
  • Have knowledge of the theories and practices of psychopathology and psychotherapy necessary to treat persons with mental illness and/or chemical dependencies in a community setting.
  • Have the ability to assess and plan appropriate treatment for clients and work effectively with family members.
  • P articipate in after-hours community events.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct clinical services to children, adolescents and their families in the clinic/school setting.
  • Provide assessments and crisis management, as well as individual, group and family therapy as needed.
  • Ensure documentation of all services provided following established standards.
  • Provide direct services to patients in the Colleton Clinic/ CECMHC.
  • Provide consultation/education activities and case management on behalf of our consumers to community agencies as requested, under the supervision of the C&A Program Supervisors.
  • Participate in weekly team staffings with other mental health professionals, as well as attend and participate in C&A Staffings as scheduled.
  • Provide consultation and assists in coordination of hospital admissions and placement of children and adolescents.
  • Provide follow-up after discharge.
  • Participate in school related activities such as PTO’s, classroom presentations, and other extra-curricula-related activities in support of client (student) relations.
  • Document all contacts with consumers, families, significant others and agencies, according to all Quality Assurance Standards.
