This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health, Waccamaw Center for Mental Health, 164 Waccamaw Medical Park Drive, Conway, SC 29526. This position MAY be eligible for SCOMH Student Loan Repayment to cover some of the cost of your outstanding loan(s) balance associated with the completion of a healthcare degree that is relevant to the appliable position. As the Mental Health Professional I, under direct supervision will serve as the Access/Crisis Team clinician providing screening, assessment, crisis intervention, community crisis intervention, individual, family and group therapy. Completion of judicial and emergency forms for probate court with individuals and other approved services to clients of the Conway office of WCMH.

Requirements

• A master's degree in guidance, counseling or social services is a requirement.
• Must meet OMH credentialing requirements which include specific graduate course work including Psychopathology/Psychopathology Diagnostics/Clinical Assessments - Practice with Family Therapy (DSM) and medical ethics.
• Must be able to show one year evidence of clinical experience providing direct patient care and working with individuals experiencing severe and persistent mental illness. This experience maybe documented as a practicum, internship or post-graduate experience.
• Ability to lift 40 pounds; ability to see, hear at normal volumes, stand, walk, reach, pull, stoop, bend and climb at least (2) flights of stairs.
• Ability to tolerate noise level and circulate in patient areas for long periods of time.
• must be able to work with repetitive patient behaviors.
• Be able to provide a 10-year driving record.
• Be able to use a state vehicle for work related purposes.
• Use clinical judgement while working independently at times and be self-directed.

• Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide therapy, emergency services and case management to persons experiencing emotional disturbances. This includes assessment, crisis intervention, individual and group therapy, patient and family education and targeted case management.
• Ability to provide service to patients in community setting or on site and be back up coverage for mobile crisis team during operational hours.
• Completion and submission of clinical service notes within 24-hour period in accordance with Local Collaborative Documentation Standards.
• Act as a contact for referral sources by disseminating information about services offered by WCMH, including criteria for in patient admission and type of treatment programs available.
• Maintain documentation of charts and other records in accordance with State, Federal, Local, OMH, WCMH, Quality Assurance, Corporate Compliance and CARF standards.
• Assist in maximizing recovery efforts by providing a variety of coordination and consultation services with schools, community agencies, local hospitals, probate court and OMH staff members to assist clients. This includes completion of judicial forms and emergency pick-up forms with family members of crisis patients.
• Capacity to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, families, and representatives of other professional disciplines.
• Perform 33.75 patient care hours monthly and 405 patient care hours annually.
• Expectation of staying after hours at times if transportation for patients who are on involuntary commitment papers arrives after 5:00 p.m.
• Be able to make clear, accurate and articulate presentations to the community and senior leadership about services being provided by access crisis team in the clinic.
• Facilitate secure transportation for patients being sent to a hospital for acute stabilization and work closely with hospital discharge screening of patient by telephone.
• Work closely with Mobile Crisis team in staffing possible crisis patient/communicating patient and family needs.
