About The Position

Zepf Center is seeking a Full-time Mental Health Professional - Emergency Services to stabilize individuals experiencing psychiatric or behavioral crises and facilitate their return to the community. This role is part of a 24/7 comprehensive program that assesses adults, children, and adolescents in Lucas County, either onsite or in the field, to determine appropriate treatment options, which may include hospitalization or referral to community-based services. Zepf Center is a trauma-informed agency dedicated to providing behavioral health and substance use disorder services, including psychiatric care, case management, residential services, crisis intervention, and therapy. They also offer primary care medical services to support a continuum of care for their patients.

Requirements

Licensure: LSW/ LPC; LISW / LPCC
Bachelor's degree (Required)
2 years crisis intervention experience.
Must possess a valid Ohio driver’s license.
Must be eligible to drive company vehicles and be eligible for coverage as defined by the agency commercial insurance carrier.
Those who drive personal vehicles in the course of business must be able to furnish proof of active auto insurance.
Ability to rapidly form positive relationships and to work effectively with law enforcement, fire department, Red Cross and other emergency personnel.
Ability to deal with agitated or potentially violent clients. Excellent crisis intervention and de-escalation skills.
Ability to engage individuals in the community in problem solving process.
Ability to relate to clients with a variety of age, economic/educational backgrounds, personality types and problems.
Ability to work with individuals, families and groups in acute grief crisis.
Ability to work in a variety of natural environment settings frequently under very chaotic and/or potentially dangerous conditions with police presence.
Flexibility in dealing with a wide variety of critical and stressful work assignments as the need presents itself. Exhibits flexibility and ability to manage multiple demands in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work in alternate locations as assigned, and able to perform on call as assigned.
Skill in community education and training.
Knowledge of the field of stress and stress management.
Ability to achieve and maintain certification in required training programs.
Ability to participate in extensive cross-training with a variety of emergency personnel.
Ability to work and make critical decisions in high-pressure situations.
Ability to operate independent of mental health supervisor at scenes, consult as needed, initiate problem-solving activity as needed.
Ability to work cooperatively with a wide variety of systems.
Knowledge of community resources.
Maintains a level of self-care that is adequate for managing a high-pace, crisis response position.

Responsibilities

Conduct triage and intake interviews in person with clients and referral sources.
Provide crisis stabilization services, education, counseling, community resource referral, and other social services interventions to youth and families.
Complete counseling/social work assessments, mental status exams, and social histories.
Coordinate and monitor community services, including mental health, medical, educational, psychological, vocational, and social services.
Facilitate group therapy modules based on milieu and patient care needs.
Assist with scheduling group therapies and modalities with other CSU team members.
Assess, determine the most appropriate treatment, and develop treatment plans.
Provide linkage to case management and services.
Maintain accurate, complete, and appropriate clinical records.
Work cooperatively with hospital staff to assist in the step-down of patients from hospital level of care to CSU.
Initiate and develop prevention strategies.
Perform crisis follow-up as indicated around specific issues that can be dealt with in a specified time frame.
Maintain timely and complete documentation of services and activities, meeting the standards of CMS, CARF, and OHMAS (if applicable).
Perform short-term, brief solution-focused counseling around specific issues.
Ensure collection of appropriate client assessment and demographic information.
Accurately document service provision and billing information for reimbursement.
Provide critical incident intervention when traumatic incidents occur in the workplace.
Ensure competence and annual certification in CPR, First Aid, and Crisis Intervention.
Perform other duties as assigned.
