About The Position

People Incorporated Mental Health Services is seeking an Mental Health Practitioner to join our outpatient SUD program. This position provides recovery-oriented support services to individuals receiving outpatient substance use disorder treatment. The Mental Health Practitioner will assist clients in restoring skills and functioning that promote stability, community integration, recovery, and overall well-being. Working alongside the program's Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) and Peer Recovery Specialist, this role provides support through both individual and group interventions. The practitioner will help clients identify strengths, develop coping strategies, access community resources, and work toward their recovery goals.

Requirements

  • Mental Health Practitioner I: High school diploma and: Two years of experience in the delivery of services to people with mental Illness, Traumatic brain injury or developmental disabilities OR: One year of supervised experience in the delivery of services to people with Mental Illness, DD, ID or TBI, and receives clinical supervision from a mental health professional once a week until two years of experience is met OR: High school diploma and: One years of experience in the delivery of services to people with motional disturbance, or substance use disorder, and receives clinical supervision from a mental health professional once a week until 4,000 hours of experience is met One year of supervised experience in the delivery of services to people with Mental Illness, DD, ID or TBI, and receives clinical OR: Has completed 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours in behavioral science or a related field and Has proof of a practicum or internship that requires direct interaction with adults or children served and is focused on behavioral sciences or related fields; Has 2,000 hours of supervised experience in the delivery of services to people with Mental Illness, DD, ID or TBI OR Bachelor's degree in Behavioral Science or related field Has proof of practicum or internship that require direct interactions with adults or children served and is focused behavioral science or related field
  • Mental Health Practitioner II: Bachelor's degree in Behavioral Science or related field; AND Has proof of 4,000 hours (two years) of experience in the delivery of services to people with mental illness; OR Master’s Degree in behavioral science or related field OR in lieu of a bachelor’s degree in a behavioral science/related field, has proof of 10,000 hours (Five years) of experience in the delivery of services to people with mental illness

Responsibilities

  • Using and modeling person-centered principles, actively engage clients in their mental health recovery, and develop and maintain appropriate relationships that support the client in meeting their individual goals.
  • Facilitate and conduct individual services that address a variety of needs and health concerns for the client.
  • Demonstrate intermediate level of clinical knowledge and modeling as it relates to the individual’s goals, treatment plan and diagnosis.
  • Provide and model crisis intervention and de-escalation for clients experiencing mental health symptoms or other emotional and/or behavioral responses while prioritizing client and program safety.
  • Document interactions and interventions with clients, according to program requirements, into the organization’s Electronic Health Record (EHR) and/or record-keeping system.
  • Participate in coordination of services through the recognition of the multiple needs of the client, with other providers in the community, in an effort to provide necessary resources to the client.
