The Mental Health Association of Alameda County (MHAAC) is seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as a Patients' Rights Advocate. This role is crucial in ensuring that the rights of individuals with mental illness are upheld during hospitalization and treatment. Advocates represent clients in hearings, provide essential education, information, and referrals, and work to ensure compliance with laws governing mental health treatment. MHAAC is a well-established non-profit organization dedicated to assisting and advocating for people with mental illness and their family members through various programs. We envision a world without stigma where individuals with mental health challenges and their families can live their best lives. The Patients' Rights Advocacy Program of Alameda County (PRA) specifically works to ensure that individuals receiving mental health treatment receive quality care in compliance with all applicable codes and regulations. This involves informing patients of their rights, responding to complaints, conducting investigations, monitoring facilities, representing patients in hearings, and educating stakeholders on patients' rights.
