About The Position

The Mental Health Partner provides direct, age-specific mental health care to the child, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients being treated for psychiatric illness based on the interdisciplinary plan of care, under the direction of an RN. Functions under the direction of a LIP, manager and RN in providing relationship-based and age-specific care to psychiatric patients including emotional support using therapeutic communication, developing skills in thinking and responding, assisting with the development and maintenance of a safe and therapeutic milieu; all in accordance with hospital, nursing and unit policy/procedure. Job duties may include the handling, transportation, access to and/or contact with medications and related supplies. Age Specific groups served: As appropriate based on unit assignment.

Requirements

  • CPR certification
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a human services field (counseling, psychology, social work, or related field).
  • Work all three shifts, weekends and holidays.
  • Lifting 20-50 lbs.
  • Prolonged standing, Prolonged sitting, Frequent bending, Walking (distance), Climbing (steps, ladder, other), Reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive)
  • Repetitive motion: Keyboarding, Mouse
  • Mental/Sensory: Strong recall, Reasoning, Problem solving, Hearing, Speak clearly, Write legibly, Reading, Logical thinking
  • Emotional: Fast pace environment, Able to handle multiple priorities, Frequent and intense customer interactions, Noisy environment, Able to adapt to frequent, change

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with children or adults with emotional and mental disorders
  • Experience providing patient care on an inpatient psychiatric hospital unit
  • At least one year of supplemental related training working with emotional and mental disorders
