About The Position

Valley Cities has recently been selected to lead efforts in Washington State to become a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC), reflecting compliance with stringent national standards in behavioral health care. This status enables broader service availability, improved integration of mental health and substance use treatment, enhanced crisis intervention capabilities, and ensures services are accessible to all, regardless of financial circumstances.

Requirements

  • MA/MS degree in human services (social worker, mental health counselor, marriage and family therapist, etc.)
  • Mental Health Professional (MHP) status to perform in field intakes
  • Prior experience working with individuals and families experiencing homelessness.
  • Experience providing a wide range of clinical and case management services on an outreach basis.
  • Knowledge and skills in providing individual therapy and clinical case management.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a variety of professionals and a diverse client population.
  • Pass required background checks.
  • Possess reliable transportation.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work flexible hours in response to client needs.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of professional post graduate work experience with homeless individuals and their families that suffer from disabilities including mental health and substance use disorders.
  • Training in Evidence Based Practice(s).
  • Bi-lingual fluency in clinical interactions.

Responsibilities

  • Orient and educate clients and their families by meeting them in the office and their home or other agreed upon location; explaining the role of the Pathways First Program Mental Health Outreach Specialist and the Housing Specialist; collaborating on the housing stability plan; providing educational information in conjunction with other service providers and landlords.
  • Perform real world problem solving with the client which may require meeting the client in their home, emergency shelter or other agreed upon location.
  • Provide mental health intake assessments with MHP credentials
  • Provide individual, family and group treatment
  • Utilize motivational interviewing techniques, trauma informed care and harm reduction approaches as appropriate to a client’s needs and current situation.
  • Conduct assessment of overall client needs with respect to mental health, chemical dependency, health, health care access, vocational/education, housing and income.
  • Meet agency productivity standards (Determined at time of employment and at yearly reviews)
  • Participate in program meetings and committee meetings as requested.
  • Participate in agency wide clinical trainings.
  • Participate in individual supervision and/or group supervision as scheduled.
  • Develop and maintain professional time management, organization skills, reliability, flexibility and accountability.
