About The Position

Frontier Behavioral Health (FBH) is a non-profit organization with over 100 years of service in Spokane, dedicated to providing evidence-based treatment for individuals with behavioral health issues. As a Trauma-Informed Care Organization, FBH believes in the recovery and meaningful lives of its clients. The Lead Instructor is part of the Outpatient Competency Restoration team, which serves individuals court-ordered for restoration due to misdemeanor and felony charges. This role involves creating curriculum using the Breaking Barriers C.O.R.E. workbook, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team (Subject Matter Expert, Peer Specialist, Prescriber), and coordinating care with the court-assigned Forensic Navigator. The goal is to provide outpatient competency restoration services to help individuals overcome barriers to competency.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in psychology, counseling, social work or related field from accredited college or university.
  • Working toward full licensure in the State of Washington, with a maximum period of 5 years post hire to obtain licensure.
  • Must apply for a Counselor Agency Affiliated – Registered credential from the WA State Department of Health within 30 days of hire.
  • Must have an unrestricted and valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to pass a motor vehicle screening and driving test.
  • Must have active car insurance.
  • Willing to use personal vehicle in the course of work.
  • Ability to communicate and engage effectively with individuals of varied backgrounds, trauma experiences, cultures, education level and socioeconomical status.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of experience working with psychiatrically impaired populations.
  • Clinical licensure in the State of Washington.
  • Experience in the criminal justice system.

Responsibilities

  • Complete intake for enrollment into OCRP, including an assessment of barriers to competency.
  • Work collaboratively with the Subject Matter Expert and Enhanced Peer Support Specialist to ensure treatment plans address individualized barriers.
  • Serve as the primary provider to monitor and report on an individual's progress in overcoming barriers.
  • Notify the Forensic Navigator of any violations of the individual's court order.
  • Review Behavioral Concern Reports before submission to ensure accuracy.
  • Facilitate psychosocial treatment services (group activities or individual sessions) to address specific Barriers to Competency using CORE modules and other program modules.
  • Arrange for transportation, coordinate telehealth, or travel in person to provide OCRP services to individuals outside of Spokane county.
  • Ensure transitional services are in place prior to intake, such as referrals to other Trueblood programs, mental health, and substance use services.
  • Notify and coordinate care with the mobile crisis team or co-responder team if assistance is needed to locate individuals not attending OCRP services.
  • Collaborate with Trueblood system partners including FHARPS, FPATH and Forensic Navigators.
  • Complete on-site regular drug screening for individuals with a current substance use disorder diagnosis.
  • Participate in OCRP administrative meetings, Learning Collaboratives, Case Consultations, and regional collaboration meetings with HCA.
  • Serve as an expert regarding curriculum development changes and aid further program development.
  • Request the Competency Evaluation at the end of Legal Authority, or earlier with Supervisor and Program Administrator approval.
  • Attend court as needed to aid in the referral process to OCRP.
  • Maintain client records and all other required documentation in a timely and confidential manner.
  • Collect and document data in the Navigator Case Management system and other reporting systems.
  • Ensure there is no duplication of services if the individual is enrolled with another behavioral health provider.
  • Provide crisis and hospital diversion services to individuals at high risk.
  • Complete suicide and homicide risk assessments.
  • Facilitate use of/access to crisis hospital diversion resources, including Stabilization and/or E&T admission.
  • Travel to see clients in the community and between work sites using FBH vehicles or personal vehicle.
