About The Position

Support programs that strengthen healthy homes and thriving communities. The Extension Home and Community Department focuses on areas such as nutrition, financial well-being, mental health, and family relationships. As part of USU's land-grant mission, this internship offers hands-on experience assisting with research-based education and outreach designed to improve quality of life. Interns will help deliver programs, develop educational materials, and connect with community members in meaningful ways. Our team fosters a welcoming, supportive environment where collaboration, empathy, and growth are encouraged. Interns have opportunities to work both independently and as part of a team, with some flexibility in scheduling depending on program needs. This is an excellent opportunity for students interested in Extension, community education, public health, or family and consumer sciences careers. This position is telework eligible within the state of Utah.

Requirements

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Organized, dependable, and self-motivated
  • Research and/or curriculum development experience

Responsibilities

  • Assist with Extension program development projects based on interests and skills.
  • Conduct literature searches to identify credible statistics and findings for mental health programs.
  • Synthesize information and create properly formatted references.
  • Develop activities and research-based content for family activity guides that promote quality time and connection.
  • Create written articles, videos, or other engaging digital materials for a youth-focused mental health website.
