About The Position

Holyoke Medical Center is hiring a Mental Health Counselor to provide care and treatment to admitted behavioral health patients across three inpatient units, under the direction of the Director of Inpatient Behavioral Health. The role includes participation in multidisciplinary patient care, helping ensure a safe and therapeutic environment, and completing required documentation. Other tasks may include activities of daily living (ADL) care, obtaining vital signs, and facilitating group activities using behavioral health theories and concepts. The incumbent must follow System and Department compliance policies and all applicable laws and regulations, and perform other similar or related duties as assigned. Management may change or add responsibilities at any time. The posting describes three counselor levels with different education and experience requirements.

Requirements

Counselor I: High school diploma or GED and at least one year of behavioral health experience.
Counselor II: Bachelor’s degree and one year of healthcare experience, or high school diploma/GED and three years of required experience.
Counselor III: Bachelor’s degree in a human service field and four years of direct behavioral health experience.

Nice To Haves

Counselor II: Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Education, or a related human service field preferred.
