About The Position

The Crisis Center of Tampa Bay brings help, hope and healing to people facing serious life challenges or trauma resulting from sexual assault or abuse, domestic violence, financial distress, substance abuse, medical emergency, suicidal thoughts, emotional or situational problems. This position provides full-time, bi-lingual, therapeutic counseling services to residents residing in both East and South Hillsborough County, who have no access to mental health therapy services either due to lack of insurance or access to needed services is an issue. This position will also provide some evidence-based Nurturing Parenting groups to parents/guardians enrolled in the program. Counselor will provide services through our community-based model which allows for the counselor to provide services in-home, at school or within the community where the program participants reside. Counselors can provide services virtually using Telehealth for participants with a documented need. Counselor may provide evening sessions when deemed clinically appropriate. The Counselor collaborates with Promotoras on the team as needed to obtain necessary resources for each client. The Mental Health Counselor reports to the Successful Families & HIPPY Program Manager, and in their absence, the Director of Success 4 Kids & Families.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Mental Health, Social Work, Psychology or a comparable Master’s level program
  • Licensed or Licensed eligible as either a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Mental Health Counselor or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
  • Minimum of two years experience in a clinical position working with children and their families
  • Bi-Lingual (Spanish/English)
  • Strong analytical ability and proficiency with applicable technologies and software utilization.
  • Effective presentation, written and verbal communications skills.
  • Knowledge of community resources.
  • Ability to collect and evaluate data.
  • Ability to prepare reports relating to clients.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

Responsibilities

  • Responds to clients using agency, contract and program policies and procedures.
  • Advocates for services and resources for families
  • Assist and participate in research activities required for grant sourcing and proposals.
  • Involves staff and other stakeholders in the performance quality improvement (PQI) process and uses data to improve services and outcomes.
  • Accept referrals from internal programs, community partners/agencies and schools that function within our service delivery areas(East and South County) for needed therapy services.
  • Contact client families to offer and explain the Successful Families program and the services available.
  • Perform initial assessment of client needs and coordinate with team members to fulfill Family Support Plan.
  • Provide strengths focused, client centered, individualized therapeutic services to families identified.
  • Ensure complete confidentiality of all client business and transactions.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of all internal and community programs and services available to clients, maintain an awareness of changes in program/service offerings and requirements, and stay informed of new program and service offerings.
  • Coordinate with the Program Manager and/or Clinical Director regarding client’s services as needed.
  • Bring cases to closure within standard timeframes and submit client records for archiving.
  • Submit reports to referral source as required regarding the scope of services provided to the client, and the client’s progress.
  • Enter all appropriate interactions in the electronic health record.
  • Enter all appropriate data in the Children’s Board of Hillsborough County data system.
  • Occasional outreach to community partners to make them aware of the Successful Families program.
  • Participate and facilitate Nurturing Parenting Groups with Promotora’s in East and South County.
  • Performs other such duties as may be assigned by the Successful Families & HIPPY Program Manager or Director of Success 4 Kids & Families.
