About The Position

Riverside Community Care is hiring a Mental Health Consultant for its Early Head Start program. The consultant provides mental health consultation, training, and support to staff and enrolled families, partnering with Early Head Start staff to address the needs of children and adult participants. The role uses consultation, staff training, reflective practices, and individual sessions with parents, and collaborates with home visitors, supervisors, and the Program Director to support identified participants and families. Services are delivered through a social sustainability lens, with attention to the mental wellbeing of the program and staff wellness. Work is in person; individual family consultations may be virtual depending on the family’s needs. The relief schedule is 10 hours per month, at $53.04 per hour.

Responsibilities

Provide consultation, training, and mental health support to Early Head Start staff and families.
Conduct two mental health training sessions per year for all staff, such as training on trauma and trauma-informed practices.
Meet with home visitors monthly for two hours.
Meet annually with each home visitor and the management team to review caseloads and challenges facing families.
Consult with a home visitor and their supervisor about a specific family as needed.
Conduct joint visits with home visitors as needed to observe a child at home or discuss a specific mental health concern and provide referral information.
Collaborate with home visitors, supervisors, and the Program Director to support identified participants and families.
Use reflective practices and individual parent sessions to address the needs of children and adult program participants, while supporting staff wellness.
