This role is part of the Crisis Residential Unit (Adult Inpatient) and operates as a 24/7 inpatient voluntary program with a 16-bed facility for adults (ages 18-59). The program offers rehabilitation/recovery services, including substance use rehabilitation services, pre-vocational or vocational counseling, and medication evaluation and support services.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in social work, Marriage & Family Therapy, or Psychology from an accredited college or university.
  • At least one (1) year of direct service experience in a mental health setting (relevant student internship or practicum hours may be substituted).
  • Active registration with the BBS as an Associate (AMFT, ACSW, or APCC) for Mental Health Specialist II.
  • Active California licensure as an LMFT, LCSW, or LPCC for Mental Health Specialist III.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in an inpatient therapy setting is preferred.
  • Supervision for BBS hours for AMFT, ACSW, and APCC professionals (where applicable).

Responsibilities

  • Prepares a comprehensive written psychosocial evaluation and assessment on assigned clients, in addition to an intake note, daily progress notes, summary notes (as may be required) and a discharge summary.
  • Responsible for assessing client’s readiness for admission and coordination planning with treatment team, the client’s case managers, and transferring facilities.
  • Responsible for assessing client’s readiness for discharge and coordination planning with treatment team; working with case managers to effect appropriate referrals for placement, case management and aftercare services; coordinates benefits (Medi-Cal) with Business Office personnel; and maintains knowledge of community resources.
  • Provides individual group therapy to clients on a weekly basis and as needed based on the needs of the clients.
  • Actively participates in treatment team meetings and is responsible for working with other disciplines to develop a coordinated treatment plan for assigned clients.
  • Leads or co-leads therapeutic groups.
