Requirements

  • Registered with an approved Regulated Health Profession College (Social Work, Occupational Therapist, Psychotherapy)
  • Master’s degree required
  • Extensive experience delivering structured, time limited, evidence based individual and group psychotherapy models
  • Extensive experience developing and facilitating groups i.e CBT, DBT etc.
  • Good understanding of current legislation related to; Mental Health Act, Healthcare Consent Act, Substitute Decisions Act and Privacy Act.
  • Excellent mental health assessment skills and ability to conduct and document formal biopsychosocial assessments
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with patients, families, and community-based resources
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team model that includes the patient, family, and other care givers
  • Organizational skills and the ability to work independently are necessary
  • Demonstrates and role models an awareness of and commitment to personal and professional development
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis is required
  • Must have received all required doses of a COVID-19 vaccine approved by Health Canada, subject to any accommodation required by applicable human rights legislation.
  • Must provide the applicable criminal record check, as requested by Human Resources, in accordance with federal and provincial legislation. Valid criminal record checks are in original format and dated with two months from date of conditional offer from CMH.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct and indirect patient care including assessments of patients’ physical, emotional, cognitive, and behaviour skills.
  • Respond to referrals and consultations by assessing patients and developing safety and other treatment plans.
  • Identify problem areas and establish measurable goals and objectives for patients.
  • Implement treatment as needed and document all findings, interventions, and outcomes.
  • Provide care to patients in the Outpatient Clinic, Day Hospital and when required the Adult Inpatient Mental Health unit.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and discharge planning.
  • Liaise with community agencies for services required post discharge.
  • Lead psychotherapy and psycho educational groups with other professions.
  • Provide individual psychotherapy as required.
  • Work with patients who have varying diagnoses and symptoms associated with mental health concerns.
