The Mental Health Clinician performs professional-level work within the Police Services Department, providing behavioral health services that include crisis intervention, risk assessment, and case management in coordination with law enforcement personnel and community resources. Work involves responding to individuals experiencing mental health crises, conducting assessments, facilitating referrals for treatment, and providing education and support to individuals and families. The position requires field-based work alongside law enforcement officers, collaboration with internal and external partners, and participation in training and community outreach activities. Work is performed under general supervision and in accordance with established policies, procedures, and professional standards. Trainee Eligible: Candidate must have Masters degree in Mental Health Counseling AND have obtained the State of Florida Mental Health Counselor Intern license to be hired as a Trainee Mental Health Clinician. Upon successfully meeting the minimum requirements of the Mental Health Clinician classification as outlined below, the Trainee designation would be removed. A Trainee Mental Health Clinician will work under the close supervision and day-to-day direction of the licensed Mental Health Clinician on staff. Compensation for a Trainee Mental Health Clinician will vary.
