Mental Health Clinician Lead - LCMHC
About The Position
This role serves as a lead clinician within the Department of Psychiatry at UVMMC. The Mental Health Clinician Lead is responsible for day-to-day problem-solving for their workgroup, assisting with clinical assignments, and developing/maintaining staffing schedules in collaboration with the Site Medical Director and Supervisor. This position provides clinical mentorship, facilitates professional development and yearly goals for mental health clinicians, and models professional growth through leading clinical discussions, journal reviews, and coordinating clinical services. The lead also collaborates with program leadership to identify growth areas, define standards of care through program development and quality improvement initiatives, and fosters the use of evidence-based practices by promoting the integration of research and valid measurement tools. They work with the healthcare team to adapt practices based on advances in the field and assist in the orientation of new staff.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Licensed Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counseling, Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counseling, or Licensed Social Work.
- Two years of lead experience in healthcare, human services, education or other fields offering services in the fields of mental health or substance use disorders to clients.

Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day problem-solving for their workgroup.
- Assist with clinical assignments when necessary.
- Develop and maintain staffing schedules in collaboration with the Site Medical Director and Supervisor.
- Provide clinical mentorship, including facilitation of professional development and yearly goals to mental health clinicians.
- Model professional development through leading clinical discussions, journal reviews, and coordinating clinical services.
- Collaborate with the Site Medical Director to identify areas of potential growth and define standards of care through program development and quality improvement.
- Foster the utilization of evidenced based practice through the promotion and integration of published research/literature and use of valid and reliable measurement tools.
- Work with the healthcare team to change or adapt practice in accordance with advances in the field.
- Collaborate with program leadership in the orientation of new staff within the team.
