About The Position

The Mental Health Clinician I helps students and families make the best use of available opportunities and resources to fully develop each student's individual potential. This role involves providing a range of services to students, parents, families, school staff, and the community to support student well-being and academic success.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree and an ASW, AMFT, LCSW or MFT required.
Two years similar experience in school social work, clinical case management or case management.
Ability to travel between and among school sites throughout the District, is required.
A valid California driver’s license is required.

Responsibilities

Provides crisis intervention for students.
Develops intervention strategies to increase academic success.
Assists with conflict resolution and anger management.
Provides case management to students on school-based counseling wait lists.
Coordinates and facilitates skill-building counseling groups for students on school-based counseling wait lists.
Works with parents to provide support in their children's school adjustment.
Alleviates family stress to enable the child to function more effectively in school and community.
Assists parents in accessing and utilizing school and community resources.
Provides post-crisis intervention case management, including helping families link to intensive, wrap-around mental health services.
Communicates and collaborates with school staff and administration.
Participates in case conferences and attend school site meetings related to students and families in need of support.
Provides staff with essential information to better understand factors (cultural, societal, economic, familial, health, etc.) affecting a student’s performance and behavior.
Assesses students with mental health concerns.
Assists teachers with behavior management.
Obtains and coordinates community resources to meet students' needs.
Advocates for new and improved community/school service to meet the needs of students and families.
Helps the system respond effectively to each child's needs.
Identifies and reports child abuse and neglect.
Provides case management for students and families requiring multiple resources.
Utilizes trauma-informed practices and interventions, mindfulness, and behavior modification.
Utilizes an integrated system for tracking client demographics, process outcomes, and outcome objectives.
Maintains case notes in accordance with the standards set forth by the Board of Behavioral Sciences.
