About The Position

The Mental Health Clinician I provides a range of services as part of the treatment team. Mental Health Clinician I acts as a SFPR and may conduct individual, family, group psychotherapy, intensive case coordination services and individual rehabilitation sessions.

Requirements

  • Master of Social Work from an accredited school of social work
  • Current Associate Clinical Social Worker (ASCW) registration through the California Board of Behavioral Sciences
  • Must maintain current status as a licensed professional under California law
  • Two years’ experience working with severely emotionally disturbed children and their families
  • Must pass Department of Justice fingerprint clearance and pre-employment physical
  • Must have a valid California Driver License in good standing and personal, valid insurance

Responsibilities

  • As a member of the treatment team, works closely with case managers and Turning Point families to develop an individualized family plan taking into account each family’s strength, goals and needs.
  • Responsible for completing all paperwork required by the Department of Mental Health (DMH) i.e. assessments, coordination plans, etc., as well as TP required documentation in a timely manner.
  • Coordinates with case manager to implement the family plan agreed upon by family meetings.
  • Provides direct clinical, psychological and/or rehabilitative mental health services to Turning Point families including identified client and other family members seen as collateral in the home.
  • Provides TP families with ongoing assessments of their basic needs in various life domains including housing, family, social, recreational, emotional, educational, safety, legal, medical, cultural, behavioral, school, work, and financial.
  • Is flexible and creative in providing support and services to families in their home, at school sites, in agency offices and other off-site locations as outlined in the treatment plan.
  • Works closely with the case manager in order to coordinate and integrate services for families as needed.
  • Is respectful and sensitive to each family’s cultural and individual needs and customs as appropriate.
  • Assists in organizing and providing ongoing group, lessons, workshops, and outings as needed for families.
  • Utilizes the 4 Step CFT process/Integrated core practice model in engaging clients, team members and agency partners; Participates in weekly staff meetings, treatment team meetings, clinical supervisions, family meetings, and individual and supervision sessions.
  • Attends TP in-service presentations and trainings as assigned.
  • Actively participates in Arts Care activities which include scheduling, childcare, transportation of families and leading parenting groups as appropriate and needed.
  • Complete all documentation in a timely and comprehensive manner.
  • Attend staff and team meetings weekly and come prepared to regular individual and group supervision.
  • Assist with weekly utilization review committee/chart review committee tasks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Providing direct crisis intervention, support families requiring help.
