About The Position

The Mental Health Clinical Assistant works closely with mental health providers to support basic clinical tasks and patient care, including taking vital signs and performing point-of-care urine drug screens and pregnancy tests. The role also provides administrative and patient-facing support, helping ensure an organized and compassionate experience for patients and families. The position may require working until 8 p.m. when needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma, Medical Assistant Certification, or equivalent experience.
• Extremely detail-oriented and organized.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills.
• Ability to lift at least 20 pounds; moving or assisting patients to bathrooms may be required.
• Ability to stand for extended periods during a shift.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience with EHR systems; Kareo or Tebra experience is a plus.
• Previous experience with Google Drive.
• Familiarity with an electronic medical healthcare record system is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist visitors and patients upon arrival.
• Review patient paperwork and mental health assessments.
• Assist with patient phone calls.
• Coordinate daily administrative activities, including scheduling, entering patient data in the EHR system, patient check-in and check-out, rooming patients, and maintaining patient medical records.
• Prepare and maintain exam and treatment rooms.
• Obtain and record patient medical histories, test results, and other information for medical records while maintaining strict confidentiality.
• Assist providers with vital signs, point-of-care urine drug screens and pregnancy tests, and other patient care.
• Train to administer Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) treatments.
• Assist providers with pharmacy calls concerning prescription questions and issues.
• Assist with medication prior authorizations.
• Print and fax documents.
• Follow office workflow procedures to support efficiency.
• Provide compassionate support, attention, and assistance to patients and families.
• Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, including HIPAA.
