Requirements

High school graduate or equivalent.
American Heart Association certification for health care provider CPR required upon hire or during orientation and every two years thereafter.
Avade 2 (restraint) training completion required within 30 days of hire.
Ability to read, write and communicate in English in a clear and concise manner.
Effective interpersonal skills for respectful, culturally and age-appropriate communication.
Demonstrated effective problem-solving abilities for routine situations.
Ability to read, write and communicate in English in a clear and concise manner.

Nice To Haves

Associate's degree preferred.
Medical terminology and computer skills preferred.
Two year’s experience in a health-related field preferred.

Responsibilities

Serves as a member of the Mental Health Team and interacts with patients, families, nurses, physicians, and other colleagues.
Communicates observations and changes in patient condition to licensed nurses in a timely manner.
Records behavioral data on appropriate data sheets and the electronic medical record.
Maintains patient safety through safety checks, environmental rounds, and utilizing fall prevention strategies.
Utilizes de-escalation and calming techniques and adheres to Restraint Policy standards.
Participates in the development and maintenance of a safe and therapeutic environment.
Leads or co-leads group activities such as goal setting, dual diagnosis groups, and activity groups, and supervises recreational activities.
Handles routine situations and seeks assistance from identified resources when needed.
Assists in medical emergencies as directed by the licensed nurse.
Utilizes proper safety techniques and body mechanics in all work-related activities.
