About The Position

Alabama Clinical Schools has been a behavioral healthcare provider in the Birmingham area for over 20 years. Our treatment services range from intensive residential treatment for males ages 9-18 to therapeutic foster care for males and females of all ages. Our RISE and Specialized Therapeutic Foster Care programs for boys are the only programs of their kind in the State of Alabama. Our mission is simple: to enrich lives of at-risk youth and their families by delivering quality behavioral and educational services while fostering a safe transition to the community. The Mental Health Associate 3rd shift provides direct care to residents with psychiatric disorders, to ensure their safety and well-being. MHAs have the primary responsibility for ensuring the resident’s safety on the unit utilizing a therapeutic approach to all tasks including assistance with daily activities, facilitation of groups and other duties as assigned by Group Leader, Assistant Group Leader, or Shift Supervisor. This position is for 3rd shift Monday to Friday 11pm to 7:30 am with a rotating weekend of 9pm to 9am Saturday and 9pm to 730am on Sunday. If you work a weekend you are off two days the following week. This position is also eligible for a $3,000 Sign on Bonus.

Requirements

  • Must be 19 years or older.
  • Able to have a successful drug screen and background check (includes criminal history, Child Abuse and Neglect Registry, and ABI/FBI fingerprint check).

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors or Associates degree in psychology, social work, education, criminal justice, or other related mental health field preferred, but not required.
  • Detailed and organized with strong documentation skills.
  • Experience in a residential mental/behavioral health setting strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct care to residents with psychiatric disorders, to ensure their safety and well-being.
  • Ensures resident safety on the unit utilizing a therapeutic approach to all tasks.
  • Assists with daily activities.
  • Facilitates groups.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Group Leader, Assistant Group Leader, or Shift Supervisor.
  • Safely monitor residents and perform physical management techniques and crisis intervention.
