Role: Part-time 28-hour position as Mental Health Assistant for adults with serious mental illness and/or co-occurring substance use disorders. Under the guidance of a lead clinician, Mental Health Assistant provides support and help to access community resources for people with serious mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorders. Mental Health Assistant provides supportive community services such as assisting and teaching a consumer to obtain housing, employment, medical care, transportation, recreation, financial benefits, and other available entitlements. Mental health worker must function well as part of a team and have good knowledge of community resources. Services are provided in home, community, and office settings under the supervision of Program Director and Program Coordinator and the guidance of the lead clinician.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required.
  • Valid MI driver's license required.
  • Some evening or weekend hours are required.
  • Experience working with people with mental health needs.
  • Ability to work as part of a team of professionals in a public mental health setting is required.
  • Ability to enter data efficiently and accurately into an electronic medical record.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in crisis stabilization and housing procurement is highly desirable.
  • Experience working in a community mental health clinic is preferred.
