The Mental Health Assistant (MHA) will deliver attendant care, respite care, psychosocial rehabilitation, and independent living skills to consumers as directed by their supervisor. The MHA will provide direct one-on-one supervision of consumers and work directly from the Treatment Plan to help them learn independent living skills, complete specific goals, or help stabilize them in crisis situations to avoid out-of-home placement. The Mental Health Assistant will demonstrate flexibility in being available to work as client needs arise. This role requires demonstrated interpersonal skills, the ability to work with the mentally ill, and respond effectively in a wide variety of human service situations. An interest and investment in working with children who experience Serious Emotional Disturbance (SED) is essential, as is the ability to work as a member of a treatment team in providing a continuum of services to consumers and their families.
